Dr. Mick Krasner will provide an overview of the current health professional work-life experience, framing the challenges and the imperative for building resilience. He will review some of the intervention research and examine the Mindful Practice program’s effects on burnout, well-being and patient centered care.
Dessert will be provided. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Bio:
Mick Krasner, MD, FACP, is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Rochester
School of Medicine and Dentistry and has been teaching mindfulness-based stress reduction to patients, medical students, and health care professionals for over 8 years, involving nearly 800 participants. He is engaged in a variety of research projects including the investigation of the effects of mindfulness practices on the immune system in the elderly and on medical student stress and well-being as well as the effects on health care professionals' well being. Krasner is interested in the connection between health care professional well-being and the effectiveness of the healing relationship.
This talk is part of the Compassionate Care Initiative (CCI) Lecture Series and the Spring 2018 CSC Speaker Series. It is co-sponsored by the Compassionate Care Initiative and the Contemplative Sciences Center.
On April 11, Krasner is also presenting a whole day retreat entitled "Creating a More Compassionate, Caring and Resilient Life in Medicine" at Morven Meeting Barn.
