One of the most respected schools of education in the US, the School of Education and Human Development aims to create effective environments to foster learning and development at every age level, in every subject and in many domains of performance. Brought to contemplation by its own research and teaching, the Dean Robert Pianta and key faculty are leading the way at UVa in the application of contemplative approaches to improve Pre-K through 12 teacher education and curriculum through research and training programs. These include initiatives in researching health and wellness curriculums in school systems, enhancing undergraduate teacher training with contemplative practices and ideas, and addressing challenges of collective governance by school leaders with contemplation.
