Contemplative Activities Calendar - Free Weekly Events
9:30-11:30 AM: Inversions & the Art of Balance
- Location: North Grounds Recreation Center (NGRC), Room MP3
- Registration required.
- Tickets : $35 students | $40 non-students
Turning yourself upside down challenges the body’s sense of spatial orientation, the limits of physical strength and the mind’s outer edges of fear. In this class, you will learn to approach inversions with sound anatomical principles, an open mind, excitement and fun. You will experience what it takes to steady yourself on your hands — much more than brute strength. You will discover the ease of allowing yourself to slide into postures, positions and inversions with just the slightest change of perspective. Everything from downward dog and shoulderstand to handstand will be explored.
2:00-3:30 PM: Yoga Practice & Talk
- Location: Aquatic & Fitness Center (AFC) in the Main Gym
- Registration required for both free and paid tickets.
- Tickets: FREE students | $15 non-students
NOTE: non-student tickets for both events are discounted at $50/combined
This event will feature both a yoga practice session and a talk exploring Kino’s new book, The Yogi Assignment: A 30-Day Program for Bringing Yoga Practice and Wisdom to Your Everyday Life. Kino MacGregor is an international yoga teacher, author of three books, producer of six Ashtanga Yoga DVDs, blogger and world traveler. She is the co-founder of Miami Life Center, Yoga Challenge, and OmStars Clothing. This talk will conclude with a book signing.
