This course introduces and offers practical experience with the Alexander Technique. The Technique helps performers, people who suffer from anxiety, and people who would like a more fluid and friendly connection with everyday movement. It helps improve public speaking, musical and/or athletic performance, and in find a calmer more centered approach to the activities of everyday life.

The Technique has long been taught in universities, conservatories, and drama schools, and has been studied by notable writers, scholars, and philosophers for over 100 years. People in all walks of life apply the Technique to improve performance and manage stress.

In MUSI 2450 we will work collaboratively as a class to guide the curriculum. Consistent attendance is required (we are working on presence, after all!). Students will develop class rules as a group, and weekly journals will be shared in a class blog.
